My story
Hi, My name is Piotr, I tend to go with Peter, and I’m a 25 year old full- stack software engineer of Polish origin. Over the last 5 years I studied at a few universities throughout UK and one in Italy. I first began my journey with web development 13 years ago when I started running a blog about gaming and music. I especially enjoyed making designs for it and over the course of a few years I learned how to do them pretty well. I even made dozens of them for other users of the website who liked my designs and wanted one for themselves. When I went to middle school I learned HTML and CSS and made my first website. Following that I learned some programming in my free time throughout high school as at the time my eyes were set on going to medical school. I ended up studying Biomedical Science and three years later I graduated with a BSc in the field. I didn’t particularly enjoy the course and so I decided to pivot my career back into computer science. I enrolled on MSc programme in Computing and IT with Advanced Practice at Northumbria University. That was conditionally possible partly due to my history of being keen to learn programming, good grades in the subjects throughout my former education and some other achievements. After finishing the first year, I’ve opted to study abroad as part of my Advanced Practice. I got accepted at Politecnico di Milano for a course MSc Computer Science & Engineering where I studied alongside regular final year local students. It was very challenging but also very rewarding. I’ve learned a lot. I’ve now finished it and I’m working on my MSc Dissertation with a title: ‘Assessing the viability of use of Augmented Reality in aiding education of primary school children in developing countries’. I’m developing a AR app in Unity that will be tested in primary schools throughout Nigeria to help determine whether children learn more and retain knowledge better when learning through AR as opposed to traditional methods. The project is done with help from NUSTEM. Graduated with commendation in November 2019. Employed as a Junior Software Developer at 3T Transform since October 2019.
